One of the most common questions we get is: *"Do I need to buy all new locks, or can you just change the key?"*

The answer is usually **rekeying**—which is faster, cheaper, and just as secure.

## What is Rekeying?
Rekeying involves taking your existing lock apart and changing the internal pins so that the old key no longer works. We then cut a new key (or match it to an existing one) that works with the new pin configuration.

**Pros of Rekeying:**
* **Cost-Effective:** You don't pay for new hardware, only the labor.
* **Convenience:** We can often key all your locks to a single key (Keyed Alike).
* **Security:** Old keys (from previous owners, tenants, or contractors) will instantly stop working.

## When Should You Replace?
Replacing the entire lockset is necessary when:
* **The lock is broken:** If the internal mechanism is rusted or worn out.
* **Upgrade needed:** You want to switch to high-security locks or smart locks.
* **Aesthetics:** You are renovating and want to change the color (e.g., from brass to nickel).

## The Verdict
* **Moved into a new house?** **Rekey.** It's the standard way to ensure you are the only one with access.
* **Lost a key?** **Rekey.** It prevents anyone who finds it from entering.
* **Lock sticking or jamming?** **Replace** (or repair).
